In the foreground you have Annie and John. In the background you have press surrounding a lawyer.
Annie was accused of murdering her best friend because Annie was in love with her best friend's husband John a la Beyoncé's Obsessed (2009) only with a different ending.
Turns out, Annie didn't kill friend. Friend was killed by an antiques dealer--which is not the first time this has happened in Midsomer so Life Lesson: stay away from those who deal in antiques. And Annie did love John, only not crazy love, and John loved Annie.
Annie is acquitted, John and Annie meet on the courtroom steps, breathless with possibility, AND THE PRESS GLEEFULLY IGNORES THEM?!?!! Their secret simmering love was the basis of the case! Let's file that under Outlandish.
